Arthritis and the benefits of chiropractic care for helping arthritic pain?

Even though it is a common condition, arthritis remains one of the most misunderstood conditions in America. Arthritis is inflammation of one or multiple joints, leading to pain, discomfort, and stiffness in various joints and the body. Typical signs of arthritis and joint inflammation consist of swelling, joint pain, stiffness, and reduced range of motion, usually worsening as one gets older.

In reality, "arthritis" is not a single condition. More than 100 varieties and levels of the illness exist, making it the primary reason for disability in the United States, impacting over 50 million individuals. Nonetheless, there are two primary forms of arthritis that can see improvements with regular chiropractic treatment:

  • Degenerative or osteoarthritis develops when the cartilage at the end of bones wear out. This occurs slowly and rubes the slick surfaces of your joints away as time goes on. Commonly affected joints include those in the hands, neck, lower back, knees and hips.

  • Rheumatoid arthritis an autoimmune condition, involves the immune system targeting the body's own tissue, usually affecting the hands and feet and upper neck. The condition can harm various body systems in certain individuals, such as the skin, eyes, lungs, heart, and blood vessels. It results in painful swelling by impacting the linings of the joints. This could result in bone erosion and deformation of the joints. Symptoms may also include fatigue, fever, and decreased appetite.

In either case, utilizing self-care along with non-invasive, non-addictive therapy should be your initial strategy to handle and alleviate pain and discomfort.
